The story of Best 5 began in 2011 at Tancabesti under the title of Romanian Carp Awards…
…then followed 3 annual editions that had a great success, gathering teams from all around the world and tickets sold out long time before the competition started. It was the first time when in a carp competition only the biggest 5 carps per team count to win. The recipe was well seen by all competitors, basically until the last moment of the competition all teams can hope for the biggest prize.
“ I like the organization, very professional, the referees are fair and all was very good, a can’t think at bad thing of it.â€
“ This competition is organized at the highest standards. Many organizers will have to learn something from the guys that did this event, the biggest 5 carp recipe is very good because it gives you the chance to fight till the last moment.â€
“ I think that this kind of events have to be organized perfectly, and this one is organized in a perfect way. Best 5 is a grandiose event, a lot of people has the eye on the organizers.
The standard of the competition and of the competitors is very high, and i really like this kind of a contest, because if you have bad luck at the draw, and you don’t pick a good place, on this biggest 5 carp system, each team has chances until the finish.”
The founders of this event are Andrei “Toto†Popescu and Andrei “AV†Vladeanu, the last one has a great experience as an important member of APCR (Romanian Carp Fishing Association), organization that has coordinated the carp fishing competitions in Romania from 2000 to 2012, including the national championships.
The NATIONS CARP CUP represents a new challenge for us and we have decided to increase the number of the teams as with only 30 places at the annual Tancabesti competition they are quickly being occupied due to the high amount of demands. On Sarulesti Lake we can double the number of occupying teams and the lake doesn’t need any more presentations due to it’s history and most recent catch reports.
With 3 World Cups held on Sarulesti Lake, in 1999, 2002 and 2008 the lake began to impose new standards for many venues in Romania and not only. The first edition was won by a team leaded by Jurgen Becker – also one of the main participants of the NATIONS CARP CUP 2014 and the agent of the competition in Germany. The 2002 edition was won by the Austrians of Kurt Grabmayer (RIP) one of the biggest carp fishing ambassadors in the world, founder and president of the International Carp Fishing Association (ICFA). Romania’s representation at ICFA, Andrei Vladeanu is also one of the board members of NATIONS CAP CUP 2014. The event of 2014 at Sarulesti will continue the tradition of the famous World Cups and and plans to exceed everyone’s expectations.
